Responsibilities of Home Health Care Jobs

• comprehends and adheres to the care plan and assignment provided by the occupational therapist, physical therapist, or public health nurse. Following the RN’s instructions regarding specific patient care procedures, carry out the subsequent tasks: skin cleansing, bag application, and routine gastrointestinal care; reapplication of dry (non-sterile) dressings after the removal of dressings for bathing purposes; and catheter care. As directed by the physical therapist, adhere to the rehab care plan, which aims to increase strength, range of motion, and independence in activities of daily living.
• Assists the patient with bathing, skin care, and oral hygiene, including shaving, perineal hygiene, teeth and denture cleansing, bed bathing, shower and tub use, and shampooing. Activities involving elimination, such as using a latrine, bedpan, urinal, or commode, perform activities such as transferring in and out of bed, providing assistance with ambulation, and carrying out exercises as directed. As required, transfer patients using mechanical equipment like the Hoyer lift.

Experience
