Presently a level 4 facility, North Canberra Hospital offers a variety of acute and sub-acute services, as well as community-based care, to the inhabitants of Southern New South Wales and the northern region of Canberra. North Canberra Hospital (NCH) is a 270-bed public hospital situated in the northside as the city of Canberra grows. The North Canberra Hospital emergency department is open around the clock. About the role:

In the capacity of a Pastoral Care Practitioner, you will contribute to the multidisciplinary care team at North Canberra Hospital (NCH) by attending to the spiritual and emotional welfare of patients, their close associates, and staff. Standard work hours are from 8:00 am to 3:51 pm; however, this position may require weekend and public holiday work, as well as overnight on-call service.

Under limited direction of the Director of Pastoral Care, you will:

  • Engage in pastoral care that discerns and addresses an individual’s emotional and spiritual welfare through the implementation of spiritual interventions, completion of spiritual assessments, development of spiritual care plans, and identification and communication of health outcomes.

  • Perform duties associated with the Pastoral Care team, such as supervising and providing assistance to volunteers, students, and faith representatives.
