Qualifications of Registered Nurse Jobs

Accreditation as a graduate of a nursing education program. Proactive or qualified to apply for a practice permit and registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Present health care provider certification in basic cardiac life support (BCLS-HCP). Failure to have registered as a nurse within the previous five (5) years will necessitate the successful completion of the subsequent complementary courses: The NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification and CRNA Medication Management, Chapters 1–4.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Consensual ACLS certification is mandatory, as mandated by the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation. A minimum of one year of recent (within the last year) experience in acute care nursing as an RN or LPN is mandatory. Work experience in a dynamic, fast-paced, and stressful environment is required. Critical thinking abilities, including clinical discernment and problem-solving prowess, have been demonstrated.

Proficient interpersonal and communication abilities are essential. Capacity for both interdependent and independent labor. Proven ability to establish productive, collaborative relationships with clients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Current experience in emergency nursing or urgent care nursing (within the last six months and for a minimum of one year) is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

NVCI training recentness is preferred. Preferred qualifications include current triage experience in an urgent care or emergency department setting, with a minimum of six months of experience in the last six months. Prior experience as a charge nurse in urgent care is preferred. Computer proficiency is a plus. Working knowledge of Connect Care (EPIC) is preferred.
