Position Overview

In a virtual clinic setting, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing appropriate assessment and treatment to patients. Within the continuum of care, the successful applicant independently diagnoses conditions, prescribes medications, performs or orders diagnostic tests and treatments, evaluates treatments, and provides follow-up care. The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive and holistic nursing care to clients, including health promotion, treatment and prevention of injuries and illnesses.

The Nurse Practitioner functions as a practitioner, educator, and leader as an advanced practitioner. In accordance with provincial regulations, he/she practices independently, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as primary care physicians, on matters outside the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice. Directly report to the Director of Client and Clinical Services.

• Informs the client and/or interprofessional team of the findings and diagnosis. Discusses prognosis, treatment options, and outcomes with the client and/or other team members within the circle of care, and documents these discussions in the client’s permanent health record.

Qualifications of Work From Home RN Jobs in Canada

• Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program
• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador as a Nurse Practitioner
• Completion of an accredited School of Nursing
• An NLNPA (Newfoundland and Labrador Nurse Practitioners Association) membership is desirable but not required.
• Preferred: at least one year of recent experience as a nurse practitioner. Prior clinical experience will be taken into account.
• Must have at least two years of experience as a registered nurse.
• Evidence of familiarity with home and community health services
• Family of All Ages (FAA) must be present.
• Experience in rural practice is considered an asset.
